Royal Star or Magnolia stellata 'Royal Star'is an ideal deciduous accent tree for smaller home landscapes. This tree features extremely fragrant star-shaped snow-white flowers in early spring. It has dark green foliage throughout the season, changing to a stunning coppery bronze in the fall with pink seed pods. Useful as an open-branched, multi-trunked large shrub or as a small specimen tree.Royal Star is fast-growing and considered the hardiest of all Magnolia.

Care

Low maintenance, requires regular watering when young, and benefits from minimal pruning after flowering. Prefers living in full sun to partial shade and likes the soil to be moist, slightly acidic, organic, well-drained soil. Best grown in zones 4-8. 

Growth Habit

Growing 10-15 feet tall and 10-12 feet wide, it is ideal for small gardens, often blooming again in summer.

Toxicity

While not poisonous, consuming large quantities of any plant material may cause mild gastrointestinal upset (vomiting or diarrhea). Deer resistant.
