Monstera Burle Marx Flame, is an exquisite cultivar of Monstera known for its unique foliage and robust growth, deriving its lineage from a cross between Monstera dilacerata (reclassified as Epipremnum pinnatum) and Philodendron insulare. Native to Brazil, it can develop large, dramatic leaves with proper support and care.
While Monstera will survive lighting conditions from low to high, it wants high light to truly thrive. Look for a spot unobstructed east or west facing window. If you want to water it the traditional way, it’s best to let the top couple of inches of the potting mix dry before watering again. Because it’s a vining plant, you may need to prune your Burle Marx Flame if it reaches the top of your support. Otherwise, it does not require pruning. But you can also prune it anytime you wish by cutting off the top of the new growth.
Though a moss pole isn't required for healthy growth, Burle is a great climber, and the extra support can help it reach its maximum height. Burle Marx philodendron is a beautiful, low-growing shrub or vine that grows in clusters around two feet tall and between two to three feet wide. As a young plant, the leaves are more lance shaped with a long, narrow profile. But as the plant matures, the leaves grow wider and more heart shaped in outline.
Toxic to both dogs and cats. It contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that cause immediate mouth irritation, pain, swelling, drooling, and vomiting if ingested. It is highly recommended to keep this plant out of reach.
Plant size and shape may differ from what is pictured.
