Description

Lime mint is a citrus variety grown for its fragrant leaves. Growing up to 16” tall the Lime mint plant produces rounded green leaves that are oftentimes brushed with a burgundy to bronze blush. In the summer and fall months the Lime mint plant will produce petite purple flower spikes. Culinary mint variety with large dark green rounded leaves and tall upright growth habit (up to 3' wide). Citrus-lime scent and flavor. Good tea mint or served with fruit punch, margarita's or other drinks.

Care

Mint is a hardy, fast-spreading perennial that thrives in partial shade and moist, rich, well-draining soil. To keep mint plentiful and healthy, it should be watered fairly regularly allowing for about an inch of soil to dry out between each watering. It should be planted in rich soil that drains well and fertilized organically in the spring before it gets too hot. Easy to grow perennial zones 4-9.

Growth Habit

If you've not grown mint before, you'll learn that it can take over. If you are not interested in it taking over your garden, you may want to consider planting it in a pot that is at least 10" in diameter. This confines the roots and prevents them from spreading all over your bed. Best grown in zones 4-9.

Toxicity

While it may cause mild digestive upset if consumed in large quantities, it is not poisonous to pets. Keep ingestion minimal, avoid essential oils, and consult a vet if symptoms occur. Considered deer resistant.
