Passionate Blush Guara (Wandflower)

$19.99

Passionate Blush™ Wandflower or Guara bloom with fragrant flowers that put on a spectacular show in late spring until frost, with buds appearing red before turning into a blushing pink as the wand-like inflorescence blooms. The stunning color contrast ensures continuous interest for the entire growing season. This compact, tidy perennial has attractive, red-tinged to green leaves with a mounding, erect form. Known botanically as Gaura lindheimeri, Wandflower is native to many of the Southernmost U.S. states. Growing to 18” tall, this drought-tolerant and deer-resistant plant is a wonderful addition to mixed borders and mass plantings. Its dense form makes it a great candidate for container plantings, and looks marvelous when paired with other floriferous annuals and perennials. The upright nature and continual blooms of Passionate Blush™ Wandflower also make it easy to harvest for flower arrangements.

Care

Passionate Blush™ Wandflower tolerates dry or sandy soils over a large pH range. This shrub is very adaptable to a variety of growing conditions, and its low water usage makes it an easy, low-maintenance addition to all sunny landscapes. While deadheading is not required, shearing back the plant in summer can encourage a stronger wave of blooms in fall. Shearing the plant in spring will lead to a bushier habit. Prune the entire plant to the ground after the first hard frost in fall. Best grown in zones 6-9.

Growth Habit

Compact growing perennial (24" tall & wide at maturity) with red stems and reddish buds that open to beautiful pink flowers. Showy display of blooms from spring to fall.

Toxicity

Deer resistant. Not considered toxic to pets.
