Product page > Variant picker block.Thalictrum aquilegifolium 'Black Stockings' Meadow Rue has dark, almost stems that compliment ferny foliage and airy, flat-topped clusters of delicate, lavender flowers that appear in late spring or early summer. A distinguished presence for the back of a border or the edge of a woodland clearing.
While Black Stockings is very easy to grow under most garden conditions, moist rich soils result in optimal performance. Meadow Rue are like filtered shade in hot summer climates. Meadow Rue generally prefers a moist, well-drained, fertile soil for optimum vigor and flowering. Flowering may be limited the first season but will increase with each year as the plants become better established.
Black Stockings forms a 6' tall and 2' wide lacy, green, deer-resistant foliage topped with large, pink flower heads reminiscent of Thalictrum rochebrunianum but, in this case, highlighted by jet-black stems.

For in store purchases: If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please call us at 423-870-5000 or return the plant in its original pot/condition within 3 days. Trees and shrubs have a 1 year warranty (exceptions may apply), but we highly encourage you to give us a call or email if you notice issues with your plant. We'd love to help you figure out what's wrong and save your plant!
Orders are shipped on Wednesdays and Thursdays; if your order is placed on a Wednesday, it may not ship until the following Wednesday. During peak season there may be delays in shipping. If it is too hot or cold, we suggest ordering during milder months to ensure plants arrive in best condition.
