Versatile and dependable Astrantia is an ideal perennial for those garden spaces that need a little pick-me-up and a lot of style. Astrantia major, commonly called greater masterwort, is an upright, perennial (carrot family) that is native to mountain meadows, grasslands, woodland clearings and moist areas near streams in Europe and western Asia. This somewhat older, yet still quite popular cultivar adds phenomenal color and lots of blooms over an extended season. These pretty, 1–1½" flower clusters are beautifully set off by neatly divided, dark green basal leaves growing low on the stems.Astrantia major. 

Care

Best grown in zones 4-9. Plant Shaggy in dappled sun for best results. This adaptable plant thrives effortlessly in various soil conditions and demands minimal maintenance, allowing both experienced gardeners and novices to elevate their garden space with its beauty. Best to keep the soil moist for this plant. 

Growth Habit

Shaggy is a prolific plant that produces ivory-white, 1-1½" umbels accented with a greenish-white collar—an eye-catching coloration that pollinators (and passersby) simply adore. Blooms in late spring to late summer. Reaches 24" high & 12" wide at maturity.

Deer and rabbit resistant. Astrantia 'Shaggy' has no toxic effects reported.

Trees and shrubs have a 1 year warranty (exceptions may apply), but we highly encourage you to give us a call or email if you notice issues with your plant. We'd love to help you figure out what's wrong and save your plant! 

Orders are shipped on Wednesdays and Thursdays; if your order is placed on a Wednesday, it may not ship until the following Wednesday. During peak season there may be delays in shipping. If it is too hot or cold, we suggest ordering during milder months to ensure plants arrive in best condition.
