Fingerpaint Tiarella

$14.99

This native woodland perennial is truly a plant with interest for all seasons. Starting in spring, bright green foliage will jump out at you from the shade. Each leaf is deeply lobed with pointy edges, with an overall lacy texture. The centers of the leaves have burgundy blotches, like handprint made with paint. Ivory flowers appear just above the foliage in early spring. This foamflower is a semi-running type, forming a compact, dense, rounded mound that will have restrained spreading. They pair beautifully with hostas and ferns.

Growth Habit

This evergreen perennial blooms early through midsummer with white flowers that bubble up above the leaves. The flowers are closely spaced on the wands, giving a strong show of color just above the foliage. Hardy in zones 4-9, this is a great plant for our zones here in Tennessee. At maturity, this plant grows to 9 inches tall and 13 inches wide.

Care

Shade to part shade (4 hours or less of sun) or dappled sun

Toxicity

Thankfully, all parts of this plant are non-toxic. Though it is fairly durable, it might not appreciate a trampling from your pup. Try planting it in a pot to avoid any paw traffic and ripped leaves from your dog. Deer and pest resistant.
