Triple Play Tall Phlox

Triple Play Tall Phlox

$14.99
One of our favorites! Triple Play (aptly named from it's triple colored foliage) has lavender pink flower blooming on variegated creamy-edged frosty blue-green foliage that is tipped in pink in spring. The pink flowers are a beautiful contrast to the frosty green foliage. Hummingbirds and butterflies adore Phlox and will happily join your garden team. The rich burgundy stems on foliage and flower stems provide additional color contrast. Native to North America.

Growth Habit

'Triple Play' stays evergreen or ever"variegated", as a basal clump, about 3"-4" tall all winter, and is a great companion for breaking up winter pansies.  Then, as the weather warms the planting comes alive, sending up blooming stalks that are even heavier variegated than the basal clump.  The blooms emerge in late spring to early summer (varies with climate) and are the perfect shade of lavender to compliment the light colors in the foliage. Hardy in zones 4-8.

 Care

Be sure to locate these plants in full sun for the best flowering performance and to help avoid powdery mildew concerns. A favorite of pollinators. Phlox like full sun and soil that is rich but has good drainage. Average water needs.

Toxicity

Phlox is a non-toxic plant and a safe garden plant for people with children and pets. It is not toxic to farm animals or wildlife either. If your child or pet ingests phlox, they are not likely to have any ill effects. Phlox is not a preferred plant for deer to eat. Deer tend not to be attracted to scented plants.
