Description

Nufar is an Italian Large Leaf-type sweet basil grown for its strong, classic Genovese aroma and flavor. It was the first basil variety specifically bred for resistance to Fusarium wilt. The plants are robust, highly productive, and suited for both home gardens and commercial production. Nufar performs equally well in open fields or protected environments like greenhouses and high tunnels. Its open, upright growth habit allows for good airflow and makes it easier to harvest.

Care

Grows best in full sun but keeping the soil moderately rich and moist. Don't drown it and let the roots lay in water but keep moist - it can be damaged by heat stress. 

Growth Habit

Forms a bushy, upright plant, typically reaching 2 to 3 feet in height. It is characterized by large, crinkled, intensely aromatic green leaves. 

Toxicity

Deer resistant. Not considered toxic to pets.

For in store purchases: If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please call us at 423-870-5000 or return the plant in its original pot/condition within 3 days. Trees and shrubs have a 6 month warranty (exceptions may apply), but we highly encourage you to give us a call or email if you notice issues with your plant. We'd love to help you figure out what's wrong and save your plant! 

Shipping

Orders are shipped on Wednesdays and Thursdays; if your order is placed on a Wednesday, it may not ship until the following Wednesday. During peak season there may be delays in shipping. If it is too hot or cold, we suggest ordering during milder months to ensure plants arrive in best condition.
