This beautiful and carefree native cultivar offers a more compact habit and good disease resistance compared to other varieties of Heliopsis.   It provides a brilliant beacon of color in the landscape during the hottest months of summer.  Be sure to plant a few extra for your fresh bouquets! Heliopsis have traditionally been an excellent tall perennial for the middle or back of the flower border. It has a bushy, well-branched form and glossy, deep green, triangular leaves – a real workhorse in the garden! Use this plant in combination containers, as a cut flower, or to attract butterflies to your garden.

Care

To cultivate Heliopsis helianthoides successfully, plant it in well-draining soil with good moisture retention. This plant thrives in full sun conditions and can tolerate some light shade. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells, to keep the soil consistently moist. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage continuous blooming and maintain a tidy appearance. Best grown in zones 3-9.

Growth Habit

At maturity, Heliopsis helianthoides typically reaches a height of 3 to 5 feet  and spreads about 2 to 3 feet in width. Bright golden yellow, daisy-like flowers with an orange-gold button center are produced on strong stems from mid through late summer atop the deep green foliage. It forms a bushy and upright clump, making it an excellent choice for the back of borders or as a background plant in mixed perennial beds.

For mail orders: Plants may go through shock during shipping. Upon arrival, take the plant out and water it thoroughly. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please notify us via email at sales@amgardens.com and include a photo(s) within 24 hours of plant arrival.

For in store purchases: If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please call us at 423-870-5000 or return the plant in its original pot/condition within 3 days. Trees and shrubs have a 1 year warranty (exceptions may apply), but we highly encourage you to give us a call or email if you notice issues with your plant. We'd love to help you figure out what's wrong and save your plant! 

Orders are shipped on Wednesdays and Thursdays; if your order is placed on a Wednesday, it may not ship until the following Wednesday. During peak season there may be delays in shipping. If it is too hot or cold, we suggest ordering during milder months to ensure plants arrive in best condition.
