Blue Carpet Veronica or Veronica spicata is a dwarf version of Veronica Speedwell. Tight green mat foliage makes a great carpet anywhere in the garden. Light blue, small spikes top in early summer to make quite the impression. Use around roses, shrubs or spilling over rocks. Mow flower spikes down after bloom to keep appearance neat.

Care

Full sun. Will tolerate some shade. Moist but well drained soil.  Easy to grow and undemanding, this drought-tolerant, deer-resistant variety is ideal near a border edge, in a rock garden, or in containers. Best grown in zones 3-9.

Growth Habit

In late spring and early summer, bright violet/blue flowers grow in 6-8" tall spikes above a dense carpet of narrow, toothed deep green foliage. Grows well in garden pots and low borders and makes a great small scale ground cover. At maturity, reaches approximately 10" - 12" wide. 

Toxicity

Non-toxic. Do not ingest. Deer resistant.
