Catawba Crape Myrtle, a small flowering tree, has long-lasting dark purple flowers that appear in the late summer.  With bronze-colored new leaves in the spring, its brilliant orange-red fall color, coupled with its interesting smooth bark makes for great year-round interest. It has been bred to be mildew resistant.

Care

Requires full sun for optimal bloom production and healthy growth. Prefers well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Water regularly during dry periods; drought-tolerant once established. Prune in late winter or early spring to shape the tree and encourage vigorous blooms. Best grown in zones 6-9. 

Growth Habit

Cawtaba typically reaching 10–15 feet in height and 8–14 feet in width. It features a rounded, multi-stemmed upright habit, known for its deep purple blooms in summer and brilliant orange-red fall foliage.

Toxicity

Considered non-toxic to pets and deer resistant.

We'd love to help you figure out what's wrong and save your plant!
