block.Fill your landscape with the pure white "stars" of this clematis! Blooming once in June and then most likely again in September. Henryi Clematis is one of the most-loved clematis - simply beautiful. Preferring a sunny spot but a cooler, shaded root system, this clematis will be happy to make its home around your lamppost, trellis, or arbor! Features large 6-8" diameter white blooms. Our clematis come with small plastic pot size trellises.
Clematis are one of the few plants that like to be planted deep. Pick a full sun site and have your trellis in place. Dig your hole 8 to10 inches deep and leave some loose rich soil in the bottom of the hole. Clematis are extremely thirsty plants and need a tremendous amount of water. It is virtually impossible to over water them. Place the pot into the hole so that the first set of leaf nodes are below ground. Remove any leaves that will be under the soil. Your Clematis will appreciate a low growing plant at its feet to shade its roots. TYPE 2: First flowering comes from old stems and then later flowering occurs on new growth. In early spring, look for swelling leaf buds beginning to show. Remove any dead brittle material above these buds. If intertwining Clematis, pruning will be easier if you select varieties with the same pruning type. When pruning Type 2 clematis (large-flowered hybrids that flower in May to June) should be pruned in late winter or early spring and after the first flush of flowers in summer. Best grown in zones 4-10.
Clematis are traditionally deciduous vines that reach 6-8' tall and 4' wide blooming in early summer.
Clematis contains an irritating glycosides, and when ingested by pets, can cause drooling, vomiting and diarrhea. Thankfully, this plant has a very bitter taste, which deters most pets from consuming large amounts. Good news is that clematis is reported to be deer resistant to both deer and rabbits.
