Sometimes referred to as Rose Cape Fuchsia, Phygelius x rectus 'Colorburst Rose' is late spring bloomer that blooms through the fall as a perennial in zones 6-10. Soft ivory trumpets create the most elegant counterpoint for any garden. The silky appearance of each flower also adds texture to the landscape. Use this plant for the perfect neutral backdrop or blend with other vibrant colors. Good hummingbird attracter. The Phygelius COLORBURST™ Series has a new growth habit that refrains from spreading and thrives in well drained soils. Cut back to the base (ground level) in late winter or early spring in colder zones (7-8) to protect the plant and encourage new growth.
The soil should be organic, rich, well draining, and in a filtered sun and/or partial shade. Water deeply and allow the soil to dry a bit before watering again. Best grown in zones 6-10.
Quickly reaches 3 ft. tall, 2 ft. wide. Intense purple-rose flowers from late spring to late fall. Remove spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering throughout the summer and autumn.
Considered non-toxic to pets so it's safe for pets to consume in moderation, often acting as a breath freshener or digestive aid, though large amounts may cause minor gastrointestinal distress. Although considered deer resistant, they will eat it if they're hungry!
