Hardy Cyclamen (Coum)


Hardy cyclamen, Cyclamen coum is perennial in zones 4-9 that show delicate silver-lined dark green leaves and dainty blooms in shades of white, pink and red, from late winter to early spring. Cyclamen coum's violet-rose flowers resemble butterflies. It's perfect for growing at the base of small shrubs and trees. For best results grow Cyclamen coum in humus-rich soil in partial shade. The flowers provide welcome color in winter to early spring. A hardy relative to the ever-popular florist's cyclamen, Cyclamen coum grows 3-4" tall. Once planted, do not disturb. Deer tend to avoid but Cyclamen contains irritating saponins, and when any part of the plant are ingested to pets, it can cause vomiting and diarrhea.
