David Viburnum - Yin & Yang

$39.99

The Yang Viburnum is a new hybrid evergreen bush, growing low and wide, reaching perhaps 2 feet tall and spreading up to 4 feet wide. It has leathery, glossy leaves with 3 pronounced veins, and is very similar to the David Viburnum, but much easier to grow well in areas with hotter and more humid summers. The handsome foliage is topped with clusters of small white flowers in spring, which if pollinated by the YIN Viburnum develop into bunches of turquoise-blue small berries by late summer and through fall. Fabulous evergreen for the front of beds or in woodland settings.

The Yin Viburnum is a remarkable hybrid evergreen shrub, very similar in appearance to the David viburnum, but much easier to grow in areas with hot summers. It has the same long, leathery leaves with 3 pronounced vein grooves, and the same rich dark-green coloring all year round. In spring clusters of white flowers open, and if you grow the similar YANG Viburnum nearby, both will have many bunches of amazing turquoise blue berries in late summer and fall. This wonderful evergreen is perfect for your beds, beneath trees, in woodland gardens, and in planters.

Care

Full Sun to Part Shade.  Provide organically rich, moist, well-drained soil. Water deeply, regularly in first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Once established, reduce frequency; prefers consistent moisture but tolerates drier conditions. Apply an acid fertilizer after bloom. Keep roots cool with a thick layer of mulch.

Growth Habit

Foliage is glossy, green then to burgundy. Moderate growing; reaches 2-4 ft. both tall and wide.  Zones 7-9

Toxicity

Not toxic to pets. Viburnum is one of the shrubs that deer won't eat due to its scent and taste.
