Double Take Scarlet puts on a spectacular early spring display of large red, double flowers. The Double Take quinces are more than just pretty spring flowers: thornless and deer-resistant, they do not produce fruit, and once established, are drought-tolerant survivalists. 

Care

Quince adapts to most any type of well-drained soil, preferring a loamy soil. The do not like wet or soggy soil as they tend to be more on the side of drought tolerant once established. Quince flower the best in full to mostly sun, however plants will tolerate part shade. Best grown in zones 5-9.

Growth Habit

The shrub has a dense, spreading growth habit, with arching branches that are covered in glossy, dark green foliage. Double Take Scarlett Quince is a deciduous shrub that typically grows to be 3-4 feet wide and 4-5 feet tall at maturity. It is prized for its striking, scarlet-red flowers that bloom profusely in early spring, before the leaves emerge.

Toxicity

While this specific cultivar is thornless and generally does not produce fruit, ingestion of leaves, stems, or flowers can cause gastrointestinal upset, including vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. Deer resistant.

Orders are shipped on Wednesdays and Thursdays; if your order is placed on a Wednesday, it may not ship until the following Wednesday. During peak season there may be delays in shipping. If it is too hot or cold, we suggest ordering during milder months to ensure plants arrive in best condition.
