'Erika’ Astilbe presents upright, bright pink plumes formed on deep red stems. At home in shady moist soils, Erika’s foliage starts the season out red and slowly turns to green. An excellent cut flower that lasts and lasts in the vase. Deer resistant and easy to grow. (Astilbe arendsii). Astilbe lend a refined grace to perennial borders and are considered essential to the shade garden. They produce stunning plume-like flowers that move with the slightest breeze. Plants display lush deeply-cut green to bronze foliage that remains attractive for the entire growing season.
Zones 4 - 9. Full sun - shade. Here in Tennessee, morning/evening sun or dappled afternoon shade is preferred. Hot afternoon sun can burn the foliage. Moist but well drained soil - don’t let the soil dry out.
2’ - 3’ tall. 1’ - 2’ wide.
