Ficus Audrey (Rubber Tree Plant)

$49.99

Ficus Benghalensis (Audrey) is a cousin the Fiddle Leaf Fig, who we all know can be a bit of a drama queen. Fortunately, Audrey is much less fussy and has much less care requirements. The Ficus Audrey, looks like Ficus Lyrata with her veined foliage but her leaves are smaller with a little fuzz on them. Audrey can be grown as a full foliage houseplant or can be clipped to become a indoor tree with a standard looking trunk. Audrey is actually the national tree of India.

Care

Rubber Tree Plants like right indirect light and well drained potting soil. Water once the soil becomes slightly dry to the touch and make sure the pot has sufficient drainage holes to allow excess water to seep through.  It prefers temperatures of 65 to 75 degrees in doors.  Normal room humidity is fine. To improve humidity mist the leaves when it gets very warm in the summer.  Once the rubber plant has grown to the height you want it to grow up to, you can cut the top off. You may also want to prune back any unwanted branches to give the plant a fuller shape. It's best to prune in spring or summer but any other time will be fine.  Feed during spring and summer with a diluted liquid fertilizer every two weeks.

Growth Habit

This tree grows up to eight feet high.

Toxicity

Poisonous to cats and dogs.
