Autumn Frost Hosta thrives in partial to full shade, making it an excellent choice for shaded gardens or as an understory plant. It prefers well-draining soil with regular moisture, but it can tolerate some dryness once established. Mulching around the base of the plant helps retain soil moisture and keeps the roots cool. This hosta variety requires minimal pruning, with the focus on removing any damaged or faded leaves to maintain its attractive appearance.
Autumn Frost Hosta is a hardy perennial for USDA zones 3 to 9. It typically reaches a height of about 12 to 16 inches (30 to 40 cm) with a spread of 18 to 24 inches (45 to 60 cm). Its clumping, mounded form creates a neat and compact habit, making it suitable for borders, edging, or container planting. In summer, the plant may produce lavender flowers on tall spikes, adding an extra touch of charm to its appearance.
Toxic to pets.
