Hoya, Carnosa


Hoya 'Carnosa' commonly called the wax plant, the ‘Carnosa’ is a tropical climbing or trailing member of the milkweed family. This particular variety is used to cultivate many different varieties of Hoya, like the ‘Chelsea’ and ‘Compacta’. This plant have thick green succulent-like foliage with a glossy or waxy shine. The can withstand a few hours of direct sunlight but prefer bright indirect light. When sun-stressed they become a brighter green and can develop reddish margins. The look great in hanging baskets and the trailing stems will adhere to a trellis much like an ivy. Under ideal conditions they will produce tiny fragrant white star-shaped blooms with a red center.
