This petite beauty displays dark purple mounding foliage year-round and bursts with lovely dark pink string clusters each spring. The Purple Daydream Loropetalum, Loropetalum chinense ‘PPI’, is allow growing broadleaf evergreen shrub with year-round purple foliage. Clusters of pink flowers each spring add to this standout’s appeal. Plant for an outstanding accent or an informal, low-growing hedge. Plant on slopes or in mass groupings.

Care

Purple Daydream is versatile, handling full sun to part shade, as well as offering drought tolerance. Plant in well-drained, acidic soil. Water regularly until established. Feed with an acid fertilizer in late spring after the blooms have faded. Although pruning is generally not needed, if desired, prune after the spring bloom. 

Growth Habit

2-3′ high x 3-4′ wide at maturity. Plant 5-6 feet apart in the shrub border or in mass plantings. For hedges, space 3 to 3 ½ feet apart, measured from the center of each plant.

Toxicity

Purple Daydream is drought tolerance and deer resistance. Loropetalum is considered non toxic to pets although it may upset their stomachs if ingested.

For mail orders: Plants may go through shock during shipping. Upon arrival, take the plant out and water it thoroughly. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please notify us via email at sales@amgardens.com and include a photo(s) within 24 hours of plant arrival.

For in store purchases: If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please call us at 423-870-5000 or return the plant in its original pot/condition within 3 days. Trees and shrubs have a 1 year warranty (exceptions may apply), but we highly encourage you to give us a call or email if you notice issues with your plant. We'd love to help you figure out what's wrong and save your plant! 

Orders are shipped on Wednesdays and Thursdays; if your order is placed on a Wednesday, it may not ship until the following Wednesday. During peak season there may be delays in shipping. If it is too hot or cold, we suggest ordering during milder months to ensure plants arrive in best condition.
