Mesa Peach Gailardia (Blanket Flower)

Mesa Peach Gailardia (Blanket Flower)

$14.99

Although some Blanket Flower varieties are native to Tennessee, this hybrid is not but it does produce lots of brilliant 3 in. wide, golden-yellow and peach-orange bi-color flowers the first season. Gaillardia plants flower over a long period from June to September. This long flowering period is beneficial for bees and other insects as it provides pollen even in the otherwise often scarce midsummer.

Care

These perennials require little care once established. They are heat tolerant and actually prefer to be grown in poorer soils. They get their name from the manner in which they used to blanket North American prairies with their blooms. Winter hardy to zone 5.

Growth Habit

The 14-16 in. tall plants are vigorous, upright growing and well-branched with excellent heat and drought tolerance. Bloom begins in early summer and continues well into the fall.
