Red Dragon Knotweed (Persicaria)

$14.99

Fantastic as a unique, color-changing ground cover or border planting, Red Dragon Persicaria is a semi-evergreen with burgundy leaves boasting an eye-catching chevron stripe of blue-gray down the center. The foliage changes to silver-purple, then green with age. This vigorous perennial produces tiny white bloom clusters that adorn the leaf tips from midsummer to early fall.

Care

Zones 5 - 9. Knotweed ‘Red Dragon’ is best grown in moist, moderately fertile, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Soils should be kept evenly moist. ‘Red Dragon’ is a clump-forming sterile cultivar. The most remarkable quality of Red Dragon Persicaria is its burgundy red patterned leaves and red stems, a plant grown much more for its foliage than flowers. It will come back if nipped by a late frost and will suffer sunburn in afternoon sun.
