Spartan Juniper

$89.99

A fast growing evergreen that forms a stately, dark green, densely branched column well-suited for use as a formal accent, screen or windbreak. Grown naturally into a symmetrical, pyramidal shape that rarely needs pruning.  Tolerates heat, cold and drought.

Growth Habit

Evergreen. With a height of just 15 feet and a width of 5-6', Spartan juniper trees are great for narrow yards.

Care

Spartan juniper trees thrive in Zones 4-9—almost everywhere except the very coldest and very hottest parts of the country. Spartan juniper trees grow in full sun to partial shade. They thrive in full sun—at least six hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight per day. The only real requirement Spartan junipers have for soil is that it drains well. They prefer slightly acidic, sandy soil but tolerate many different soil types that other trees can’t, including heavy clay soils.

Toxicity

Deer resistant. Juniper berries, needles, and stems are all classified as being minor toxic to dogs and puppies. Eating juniper will most likely not be fatal, but it will make your dog sick. Common symptoms are vomiting or diarrhea.
