Description

Irish Yews or Taxus baccata 'Stricta' ('Fastigiata') has dark green needles that are larger than English Yew needles. It's dense with upright strong branches. May sets red berry-like fruit in late spring to summer. Creates exceptional vertical interest. An excellent tall hedge or screen, easily clipped into formal or topiary shapes.

Care

Full sun, Partial sun. Yews requires moderate, consistent moisture and well-drained soil. Best grown in zones 6-8.

Growth Habit

Slow growing. It features stiff, branches and dark green, needle-like foliage, typically growing 8 to 30 feet tall and 4 to 8 feet wide, making it ideal for vertical accents, privacy screens, or formal topiary.

Toxicity

All parts of the plant—needles, bark, and seeds—contain dangerous taxine alkaloids, with ingestion frequently leading to rapid, fatal cardiac failure or seizures. Not considered deer tolerant.

Trees and shrubs have a 6 month warranty (exceptions may apply), but we highly encourage you to give us a call or email if you notice issues with your plant. We'd love to help you figure out what's wrong and save your plant!

Orders are shipped on Wednesdays and Thursdays; if your order is placed on a Wednesday, it may not ship until the following Wednesday. During peak season there may be delays in shipping. If it is too hot or cold, we suggest ordering during milder months to ensure plants arrive in best condition.
